ERB hikes fuel prices

The Energy Regulation Board (ERB) announced an increase in pump prices for all petroleum products, raising petrol prices by K1.60 to K33.06 per litre and diesel by K1.18 to K34.45 for November 2026. This follows a previous increase of over K6 per litre after the excise duty was reinstated. ERB Board Chairperson James Banda attributed the price hike to rising international oil prices, driven by sustained geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and the depreciation of the kwacha against the US dollar. The announcement was made on Saturday, 31 October 2026.
